As I had a somewhat frustrating experience last weekend in trying to do more on my Coffeepot (perhaps another post if I can face the memory of it...) I took on a small diversion of fettling another wagon.

As with the recently completed LNWR wagon, this was one that I built some time ago and needs checking over and any faults resolving.  Fortunately time had not wounded this one, so all that it needed was a spot of weathering, which I did over a couple of days before going to work.

And here are the results:

Now to raid the stock box to see what I fancy working on next.  Oh, and tonight might see a Y14 tender come together :-)

  2. Hi David,

Thank you very much for the kind words .

In reality, I do this modelling as a relaxation, and just to please myself. If I can share what I do and give some enjoyment along the way, so much the better.

I hope that you enjoy reading more in the future.

    Cheers

  3. Perhaps a silly question, but what is it?

  4. The frustrating experience? I will do a post about it, but it's all about those bl**dy crossheads and slide bars.

There is a very good reason that I like railways that primarily have inside cylindered locomotives!

  5. Simpler question - I don't recognise the wagon :-)

(PS - sorry for the odd login details. I'll see if I can sort those out!)

  6. Ah... The wagon...

Well, I had a leaf through my file of micellaneous kit instructions to find it, and had no success. Not surprising really as I probably built it more than 15 years ago.

However a beer in the pub on Tuesday with a certain Highland modeller of (dis-)repute gave me an answer, which he has posted in full here:

Hope that the link (perhaps painfully) works. Anyway, it's Model Wagon Company. Long out of production :-(

  7. The wagon looks fantastic. Up until Saturday, I'd never seen or hear of a Spratt and Whitney coupling, but then I inherited a box full of wagons, and I see this. Fantastic.
